Rumjatar has a tolerant and secular society where different communities’ blends well and compliment each other.  Its vibrant economy is based on agriculture and duly supported by remittance sent from overseas. Rumjatar is renowned for its hand-made Rhadi (woollen rug) and seasonal orange crops.  It has its own history and culture.

The people who hail from Rumjatar are collectively known as RUMJATARELIS (TARELIS).

The recent amendments in the UK immigration law grants naturalisation and settlement status to all Ghurkhas and their families. Taking advantages of this law most of the Gurkha soldiers who hails from Rumjatar have started to come in UK with the view of settling down permanently in UK. Considering this influx of Rumjatarelis emigrating in to UK.

Rumjatarelis have realized that it would be in their own interest to regroup as it is in Nepal to knit all Rumjatarelis in UK to face grievance, bereavement, to share happiness and to bridge the link  with motherland Rumjatar itself. So on 19th of January 2008 the assembly of all the Rumjatarelis residing in the United Kingdom reached consent to establish The Rumjatar society (UK).
