Vice-Chairman Shobhraj Gurung welcomed all the attendees.

  1. Annual Report.
  2. General Secretary Gobinda Gurung presented Annual Report/events in summary.
  3. Treasurer Rita Gurung presented this year’s annual financial state, and you will be getting all the details after her return to the UK.
  4. Membership Subscription £10 will be collected soon. So, all members are required and requested to pay it by upcoming Summer Get-together 2024.
  5. AR (Area Reps) are to chase up the respective default members.
  6. Forecast of events (FOE) for 2024
  7. Summer Get-together on 27 July 2024. Venue- Bracknell.
  8. Deusi-Bhailo program on Saturday 26 October 2024. Venue- already booked by Adv. Nagendra Grg.
  9. Lhosar Celebration on Saturday 28 December 2024. Venue- Farnborough
  10. Forecast of events (FOE) for 2025
  11. AGM +Forming New Committee, Saturday 22 March 2025. Venue: Feltham
  12. Summer get-together 26 July 2025. Venue: Bracknell (Bishnu Bdr)
  13. Deushi-Bhailo programme: 18 October 2025, Venue: Farnborough (Nagendra)
  14. Lhosar celebration: 27 December 2025, Venue: tbc (CM)
  15. All the participating members discussed on whether it will be feasible to celebrate Lhosar and the AGM at the same time to save time. After discussion, due to Lhosar being religious and the AGM being social, for the time being, it is deemed necessary to celebrate/observe them separately.
  16. Felicitation (promotion, graduation, outstanding achievements et al): All members are requested to submit their and/ or, children’s name to CM/GS and AR are required to encourage the respective members to submit their names for this program.
  17. RSUK Website Update:Due to Advisor Mukunda Gurung being too busy, he was not able to update it. So, he apologised and advised to use our own enthusiast, young capable youths. However, he will pass on the knowledge, guide new host. Adv. Chandrabir Gurung found Ashbin Gurung (son-in-law of Maniraj Grg) to update our website.
  18. Update/information:
  19. Vice Chairman Shobhraj Gurung gave information about ongoing Gurkha veterans’ issues CNCBG (Continuation of Nepalese Citizenship for British Gurkhas).
  20. Adviser Captain (Retd) Nirmal Gurung gave information about benefits for Gurkha Veterans.
  21. Veteran’s ID Card: encouraged to apply for it. It’s open only for the UK residents now.
  22. New Immigration Rules: From 5th October 2023, there is no age limit/bracket. However, the condition/rules apply, e.g. no more than 2 years separation, should the application get rejected, no option for appeal (may only ask for review if there is any factual error made by the Home Office).
  23. Over 80’s State Pension: you should meet the criteria; like 80 years of age and have resided for 10 years in the UK. However, they can apply from Nepal as well. It is very important for those who want to reside in Nepal.
  24. He also advised RSUK to put health and wellbeing presentations by our RSUK members Doctors or Nurses in our upcoming events.
  25. Rumjatar Gumba Update:a. CM updated the following points:
  26. Enduring Fund: Anyone donating NRs 1,50,000 and above will be able to write their name on the board, and their photos will be displayed in the Lama Quarter.
  27. A car park is being built at the Gumba compound.
  28. Financial Request by Sanitar Schoolto build a basketball pitch: Dillisher Rai, Ward CM, and Naniraj Gurung, Headmaster of the Sanitar School requested our CM/RSUK to help on the above project. All agreed to support on it, and you are requested to donate into the Vice-CM bank account for it.
  29. Sponsoring Rumjatar’s local Artist Shivadas Gurung:You are aware that despite OJSUK sponsored for his visa last year, he could not get it. CM will be trying to manage to sponsor him for our upcoming Summer Get-together on 27 July 2024.
  30. Participating inNepali Mela on 25 August 2024: Available members are requested to take part in the event, and it is agreed that it will be awesome if the attendees’ numbers reach 80-90 person, more the merrier. Bishnuraj Gurung has been appointed to liaise with the organiser and update us, and to lead to take part in it.
  31. Rumjatar Ex- Servicemen Club, plan:
  32. will not be sold until we get good price for it.
  33. Majority of the attendees think it is better to demolish the old, dilapidated building and build new one there. As the subject was very contentious and as its members/donors are not only in the RSUK, it is agreed to have separate meetings for it.
  34. Advisor Ram Prasad Gurung will liaise with BGN Pokhara to get funds for its restoration/refurbishment.
  35. Pary Host/anchors:Respective parents, AR are to encourage our very capable youths to take part in it.
  36. Contribution/Donation on Deusi-Bhailo: All members who cannot attend it are requested to donate Kartike Graha accordingly.
  37. Any other business (AOB).

As most of the pertinent issues were already covered, there was not any other point.

  1. Closing address: Chairman Dhan Bahadur Gurung concluded the meeting by expressing his gratitude to all attendees for their invaluable time, contributions, and help.
